Instructions for downloading photos

You're welcome to download my photos for your personal non-commercial use. Please do not give any of my photos to anyone else. It would also be nice to ask my permission before downloading.

There are several methods for downloading photos and several sizes are available. Downloads are available from either the Flash slide shows or the manually operated slideshows.

To download from a manually operated slideshow using Windows, right-click on the full size photo and select "Save picture as...". Landscape photos downloaded using this procedure are approximately 800x533 pixels.

The Flash procedure is almost as simple but has more options to obtain different sizes. Go to the photo that you want to download in the slideshow, stop the slide show, and click on the photo. This works best if the slide show in not in the full screen mode. A new window will pop up that you can download as described above. Landscape photos downloaded using this procedure are approximately 900x600 pixels.

You have four sizes available from the Flash slide show. The default size is the "popup" as described in the previous paragraph. Any of the four sizes as shown in the following table are available. To get a size other than the popup, you'll have to modify the web address (URL) of the popup window. Follow the procedure in the previous paragraph to get the popup window. Your browser window will show a web address similar to the one in the figure at the bottom of this page. In this example, the address is http://www.edpeet.com/vacations/Galveston/slideshow/album1/popup/09050031.jpg. Put your cursor in the address bar and delete the "popup" and substitute one of the "Subdirectory Names" as shown in the following table to get the appropriate sized photo. For example, to get the largest size available, the address above would be changed to http://www.edpeet.com/vacations/Galveston/slideshow/album1/fs/09050031.jpg. Once you've changed the address, depress the "enter" or "return" key to go to that photo.
