Permalinks
A permalink is a method to be able to capture the specific address of a photo in a Flash slide show. This is useful if you wish to start the slide show at a specific photo or to send a friend a specific starting point. The Wikipedia definition of a permalink is "A permalink, or permanent link, is a URL that points to a specific blog or forum entry after it has passed from the front page to the archives."
To use permalinks, you must execute the permalink version of the Flash slide show. On those pages that contain a table with photos from different years or locations, the permalink version is normally executed by clicking on one of the entries in the table. For those pages that don't have tables, the text will contain a link to the permalink version. Reading the text on the page will tell you where to get the permalink version.
When you execute the permalink version, it will look something like the example in the following figure. The address bar changes for each photo. In this example, the permalink of the displayed photo is "http://www.edpeet.com/vacations/Galveston/slideshow/index.html#id=&num=143". You can copy this address to send to a friend or to save to start at this slide later. When you start the slide show from the permalink address, it will start at that photo and continue to the end, then wrap around to the start.
