Colorado, 2023

Sarah and I spent our 2023 in Colorado. It was a long drive from Austin, but it was about 20 degrees cooler in Colorado. It took two days to drive there and 2 days to drive back.

We started off with a trip on the Durango and Silverton Railroad. Some of the photos taken on the train will be blurry since we were being thrown around in the train car. It was extremely difficult to walk because the care was tilting side to side and was lurching forward and backward. We spent two nights in Durango in order to take the train.

We spent three nights in Ouray on Labor Day weekend.

Sarah found a great place to go that neither of us had heard of: Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park. It is about an hour's drive north of Ouray.

We visited Box Cañon Falls Park and Nature Center in Ouray.

Finally, we quickly visited a small local park in Ouray: Cascade Falls Park. But I was too lazy to hike to the waterfall.

Viewing 4K Video on YouTube

NOTE: This is a 4K video (i.e. 2160p), but the standard version of Chrome can only display the 1080p version. Microsoft's Edge browser can display the full 4K version. I don't know about other browsers. Google is evidently working on a new version of Chrome for displaying 4K video.

The YouTube app can display the 4K version, but beware that the default resolution in probably much lower than that; on two of my devices, the default YouTube resolution was 720p. If you're using the YouTube app, be sure to set the "Quality" (in the Settings menu) to 2160p. Of course, this assumes that you have the Internet bandwidth to support 4K video.

Colorado Stereo Video

This is a short 3D video taken in the Durango Silverton train and in Black Canyon. It is not very good, but it's interesting.
